Tommy Hester

Graduated from Campbell University in 1971; consequently, returned to Henderson where he worked at Carolina Cooling & Heating, and was promoted to President of the Company in 1976.

After graduating from O.C.S., he became Platoon Leader with the 878 Engineering Company in Henderson for three years. Later, went to Fort Bragg where was O.C.S. Instructor.

Actively involved in various community projects and services. Have headed the Fund Raising Project for the Heart Fund. Was an active member of the Henderson Jaycees where held a majority of offices.

Participated in the Cancer Drive in Henderson since the early 80’s. During these years, headed the Cancer Drive, was a speaker for it and have contributed generously to the Relay for Life for several years.

In 1990, served as District Chairman for the Boy’s Scout of America, and have continued being a contributor.

Served as Chairman for the 6 years.

In 1999, while he was Chairman of the United Way, our County met its goal. Continued to serve on the United Way Board and Funds Allocation Committee for several years.

Since he is very concerned with the advancement of Vance County, he presently is serving as Chairman of the Vance County Commissioners.

In 2002, he was named Rotarian of the Year for the Henderson Area by the District Rotary.

Some of his other various community services include Past President of the Henderson Rotary Club and Henderson RBC Centura Board.

He currently owns Prim Residential Rentals where he develops Residential and Commercial Property in Vance County. In order to attract more people to the Vance County area, he endeavors to provide quality housing and commercial property. Developed a gated community at Somerset Plantation on Kerr Lake which consisted of 55 Lots and also developed another gated community at Lakeshores Plantation on Kerr Lake.

Since he definitely endeavors to promote education in Vance County, he supports and contributes to all of Vance County School Projects. He is a strong supporter and contributor to the Embassy Block Foundation.

He possesses a strong sense of pride for his hometown and at every opportunity strives to make this town the very best for the generations to come. As a member of the Henderson Vance Partnership, he is working to create unique approaches to economic development in Vance County.
