Senator Bobby Hanig is a dedicated public servant with a proven track record of conservative leadership, community engagement, and vision for North Carolina’s future. Raised in a military family, with roots that spanned across various parts of the United States, Hanig developed a deep appreciation for service and commitment from an early age.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army himself, Hanig moved to Currituck County, North Carolina, where he embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship that would shape his future endeavors. With over thirty-two years of residence in Currituck County, Hanig established himself as a successful small business owner, starting with servicing rental properties and eventually expanding his ventures to include his own pool business and property management company.
Through hard work and determination, Hanig transformed a one-man operation into a thriving business that now serves approximately 400 properties in the Outer Banks area. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his community led him to enter local politics, where he was elected as a Currituck County Commissioner in 2016.
His fellow commissioners quickly recognized his leadership abilities, selecting him as Chair of the County Commission. In this role, Hanig prioritized fiscal responsibility, advocating for prudent government spending while focusing on initiatives to bolster the local economy. Not content with merely overseeing county affairs, Hanig took proactive measures to ensure transparency and accountability, spearheading a thorough financial review of the Currituck school district to safeguard taxpayer funds.
As a newly elected member of the North Carolina Senate, Hanig continues to embody the values instilled in him by his upbringing in a military family. He brings his wealth of experience and steadfast commitment to conservative principles to his role in the legislature, aiming to streamline government processes, reduce bureaucratic hurdles hindering local businesses, enact tax cuts, and foster job creation in the region.
