Voters need to learn more about how Mary Wills Bode spends her free time.
After respondents learned that ‘Mary Wills Bode is a special interest lobbyist, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting to advance legislation to help special interests’, 57% said they were less likely to vote for her. This was the second most persuasive message with voters who moved to Sykes on the final ballot, and was the top issue with white democrats and the second best issue with unaffiliated voters.
When respondents learned that ‘for the last seven years, Mary Wills Bode has been actively registered to vote in two states at once, voting five times in New York and four times here in North Carolina’, they were 59% less likely to vote for her. This was the top issue with unaffiliated voters, and the second-best tested message with white democrats.
Finally, the most persuasive message in moving voters to Sykes on the final ballot was:
‘Mary Wills Bode is endorsed and funded by liberal organizations that support the teaching of critical race theory and sexual education to first and second graders.’
Voters need to learn more about EC Sykes’s career and platform.
Respondents who heard that ‘with gas and energy prices soaring, EC Sykes would fight to increase safe, domestic production of energy, which will not only make us energy independent, but also provide lower-cost and more reliable sources of energy’, were 63% more likely to vote for Sykes (43% much more likely). This was the most persuasive message with voters that moved to Sykes on the final ballot, and the top message with republican, unaffiliated and democrat voters.
When respondents learned that ‘EC Sykes has spent his career leading businesses of all sizes, creating thousands of jobs for North Carolinians’, they were 57% more likely to vote for Sykes (30% much more likely). This was the second best message with republican, unaffiliated and democrat voters.
Finally, respondents overwhelmingly moved to Sykes on the final ballot when they learned that ‘if elected, EC Sykes will fight to abolish the personal income tax for all North Carolinians’.
